Eligibility Criteria 

This program is designed for individuals who meet the criteria listed below. If these criteria do not apply to you, we encourage you to explore other  Survivor Alliance programs or Survivor Leadership Programs that may better suit your needs.

This program is specifically designed for survivors of human trafficking, and we promote it with that focus. As a participant, others may naturally assume you have this lived experience. Please know that we will always respect your privacy; we will never identify you as a survivor or share your participation publicly. However, through your consented participation in the Fellowship, some individuals may recognize your connection to this experience. 

  • At least 18 years of age 

  • Have the right to work in the USA

  • At least 2 years of professional experience working in the anti-trafficking sector as a consultant, trainer, intern, or job

  • At least 1 year of experience working in a professional environment

  • Will live/reside in the United States for the duration of the program (some positions are only for residents of specific cities/regions. This is stated in the position description)

  • Ability to commit and actively participate in a 12-month program from January 2025 to December 2025 

  • Meet all of the candidate requirements for at least 1 of the Fellowship positions 

  • Will live/reside in the United States for the duration of the program (Some positions are only for residents of specific cities/regions. This is stated in the position description)

  • Identify as a survivor, or person with lived experience, of human trafficking and is comfortable with some people learning this about you

Application Steps

  1. Download a PDF of the Application Form to get an overview of what you will be asked to submit in the last step.

  2. Read the Fellowship Commitments

  3. Review the Fellowship Position Descriptions (https://www.survivoralliance.org/fellowship-position-descriptions). You may apply for up to two positions and will be asked to rank your 2 choices. 

  4. Reach out to someone and ask them to write you a Letter of Recommendation for the program. You will be asked to download this as a PDF and upload it to the application form.

  5. Prepare one cover letter explaining why you are applying for The Pembrook Fellowship. Please avoid writing a cover letter that simply repeats the information on your resume. You will be asked to download this as a PDF and upload it to the application form.

    • Save this letter as a PDF with your first and last name and the words “cover letter” in the document title. For example: HarrietJacobs_CoverLetter.pdf 

  6. Prepare a resume for each Fellowship position you are applying for. You will need to upload this to the application form in the last step.

    • Save the resume as a PDF with your first and last name and the word “resume for [org name]” in the document title.  For example: HarrietJacobs_ResumeforUWW.pdf. 

  7. Prepare your responses to the following questions, which you will answer in the survey monkey application form.

    • How does a role in the anti-trafficking sector fit your career goals?

    • Please explain how you meet the job criteria for the Fellowship role you have selected and why you are interested in that particular role?

What happens next?

  • Survivor Alliance will review all applications and request interviews by the end of October. 

  • After the first round of interviews with Survivor Alliance, finalists will have a second interview with their potential host organization.

  • Official offers for positions will be made in November.

  • The Fellow's start date will be January 6, 2025.
